Who Ainsworth is today

Ainsworth Game Technology is an Australian gaming supplier founded by Leonard Ainsworth in 1995. It designs and manufactures casino machines and supporting systems and distributes game content through land-based, online real-money, and social channels.

Ownership and current structure

NOVOMATIC has been Ainsworth’s majority shareholder since completing its share purchase in 2018. A proposed acquisition of the remaining shares did not complete: the takeover offer closed and the related implementation agreement was terminated in February 2026. Ainsworth therefore remains a separately listed company and product identity rather than a wholly owned NOVOMATIC studio.

Products and important games

Ainsworth’s portfolio includes cabinets, linked and standalone progressive products, historical horse racing technology, digital content through Ainsworth Interactive, and games such as Mustang Money, Thunder Cash, and Cash Cave. The company also works with outside studios and NOVOMATIC companies, so Casino Context records the most specific development credit available.
